5 Tips for a Festive Home this Holiday Season

The holiday season is upon us! Here at T.L.C. Home Services, we know December can be a very busy month. We’re all about easing stress and giving you extra time in your week, so today we have 5 simple tips for making your home feel more festive.

Tip #1: Hang String Lights

String lights are an easy way to warm up any space on those cold, dark winter nights. You can get strands of white lights for a warm and cozy glow, or you can get colorful strands for a fun and festive feeling. String lights are available in all sorts of sizes and lengths, so they can work in any room. Even if you decide to have minimal decorations this year, string lights can add a nice and easy festive touch to your home.

Tip #2: Bake Some Wintery Goodies

Baking is a great way to warm up your home and put some festive scents in the air at the same time. And you get a yummy treat when you’re finished! There are, of course, lots of holiday desserts out there, and you may already have some family baking traditions. But, if you’re looking for a new recipe to try, here’s a yummy ginger cookie that will be sure to spice up your home.

Paper snowflakes are a quick and easy decoration that can stay up all winter long. They’re lots of fun to make by yourself or with your kids. All you need is some white paper and a pair of scissors. You can fold the paper into quarters and cut out different shapes, or you can follow patterns like these ones from One Little Project.

Tip #4: Add Fluffy Seasonal Rugs

Christmastime also means wintertime, and winter can bring some cold floors along with it. Get some fluffy, seasonal rugs to keep your feet warm. Rugs can also add an extra pop of color to any space, and they can be a fun spot for unwrapping presents!

Tip #5: Make some Gingersnap Shakes

Here’s a quick and easy holiday drink recipe from the Food Network that can spice up your home and give you a yummy, festive treat:

Soak 8 crushed gingersnaps in 1 cup milk in a blender. Add 2 cups vanilla ice cream, 4 teaspoons molasses and 2 teaspoons ground ginger; blend. Pour into glasses and top with crushed gingersnaps.”
